From my perspective, the primary golden calf worshipped by the modern-day Christian Church is the Christmas Holiday. Like Ishtar or Easter, many of the traditions associated with and practiced in the name of Christmas are actually rooted in ancient paganism. These holidays derive much of their storyline from folk lore, legends and fables of men and women who were elevated to godlike status thousands of years before the first coming of Yeshua, Jesus, the Christ child of Nazareth.
The word of God discusses the perils that are associated
with lying, practicing deception, worshipping idols and other gods, as well as
offending children who believe in Jesus. These offenses all carry grave
penalties for the practice thereof, however, in many cases, the Christian
Church too beholding to worldly traditions and sentiment, turns aside from
the commandments of God to knowingly, merrily discount and embrace that which
He commands His people not to do. In the process, many are taught to lie
and be desensitized to the commandments of God, from their youth.
When children come to the realization that the endearing
fables taught to them by their church and parents are untrue, the deception and
disappointment plants seeds of mistrust and unbelief in the truth of the existence
of Jesus, the Christ child of Nazareth. It is written, “Now the Spirit speaketh
expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving
heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils; Refuse profane and old
wives' fables, and exercise thyself rather unto godliness. For the time will
come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall
they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; And they shall turn away
their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.

Jesus said, “Suffer little children, and forbid them not, to
come unto me: for of such is the kingdom of heaven. Whoso shall offend one of
these little ones which believe in me, it were better for him that a millstone
were hanged about his neck, and that he were drowned in the depth of the sea.
